		<description>Hi there,

Most of our Resources are in Rural India.
Forests, unpolluted air, farmlands rivers, springs etc are in rural areas. Thus rural folks should be regarded as protectors of our wealth, resources and treated with respect.
Education in the rural areas should be different from that in Urban India. It should be centered ofcourse around the 3 R&#039;s and then towards using local resources to earn their livehood e.g rattan/bamboo chairs, tables. Science should teach how to use mechanised equipment, pumps, motors, improving efficiency of tools and equipment used by rural folks, e.g. sickle made of carbon steel which get sharpened on use, rubberised wheels for the bullock cart, mechanics of tractors, use of natural fertilisers ( cow dung, jageery, cow urine, vermiculture), increasing yield of crops by using scientific farming etc
Why is it that common items like toothpaste , bread, aggarbattis have to be transported from urbal areas to rural areas by middle men?. Why is it that we never see local bakeries?. I am sure the rural folks can make better bread on their own, make aggarbatties, cane furniture etc thereby boosting local employment and income. It is high time local folks use local products. When I went to rural Karnataka a fortnight back,I tried a local aerated drink &#039;Ginger Pop&quot; a cola with a ginger flavour. It definitely beat Sprite, &amp; Up in taste!!
Recharging of dried up springs, increasing water supply by linking and cleaning up ponds etc, making semi arid land valuble by planting the right type of crops etc can bring confidence to the farmers and maybe reverse flow of rural folks to Urban areas.
There is a lot of wealth in rural areas ( no wonder Tatas, Reliance etc want to exploit it) and rural folks should be educated ( mobile phones which give latest prices on local crops, local weather conditions, use of fertisers etc ) on how to preserve and increase&#039;value&#039;.
This could also solve the Maoist and violent agitations in rural and tribal areas.
Is anyone listening??
Cheers

<description>The debate seems to fading away.. or the forum got occupied with more concurrent issues to tickle their nerves and derive linguistic pleasure out of it? :-)

I came across an equally engaging post on wordpress by Ach. Agyaat Darshan. Probably more from spiritual view point..

		<description>Dear Baba,

As you say usually prizes are awarded based on demonstrated achievements,
and I totally agree....infact, i think that should always be a compulsory
criterion! And perhaps most of all in the case of the Nobel prize,
as popular belief holds it, unless I&#039;m much mistaken, to be the highest
international award one can receive! So in this case, I dispute
Barack Obama&#039;s credentials to be honoured thus, even if they are based on
hope!

As some have said, this is encouragement for him to fulfil his &quot;mission&quot;,
but if he is really dedicated to his &quot;cause&quot;, then I really doubt his
neediness for special encouragement.

If this puts a burden of delivering on his shoulders, then I think that
burden was VERY much there since the moment he got elected (or maybe even
before, AS he got elected)! And I wonder if the additional burden (even in
the form of a pre-achievement Nobel), would lie long on his back for long,
as important events rub-off with time!

In any case, although I&#039;m unaware of them, I should suppose the Nobel
committees &quot;watchdogs&quot; are well-informed of many more-deserving cadidates,
the most having unfortunately lost their chance this year.

Then again, if an orchestrating mass murderer like Henry Kissinger can get
the Nobel PEACE Prize, Obama is certainly a better candidate.....but are we
going to judge him by that yard-stick?? I should think NOT!!

On another note, the Naxals chosen methods are not going to yield any
results. By going on a killing spree, that too against policemen, they are
not going to achieve their goals (assuming, of course, that their goals are
the same as they started out to be and not eradicating policemen from the
interiors of India)!

It is a much hushed-up fact that the central and state governments are
committing huge atrocities on tribals &amp; villagers (unfortunately
largely through the police), while also playing up &amp; exaggerating the Naxal
&quot;menace&quot; to the point of lying, but that doesn&#039;t mean that the Naxals method
of going about things is justified. They don&#039;t seem to see beyond
eliminating police personnel!

Incidentally, the late Inspector Francis Induwar was also a tribal from
Chattisgarh, according to an Indian Express report!

<description>Thanks AC for confirming. I had no doubts about the technical capabilities of your company to arrange this trifle when you have demonstrated your capabilities in making the EVM in the first place. Though half hearted attempts have been made to malign EVMs as not tamper proof, generally everyone believes they record the truth faithfully.

However any inside information is welcome?
